Mr. Daniel B. Walsh, President

Upon completing his courses of study at Murray State University and the University of Kentucky, Mr. Walsh entered the electrical industry as a Registered Indentured Apprentice.  Under the apprenticeship program Mr. Walsh completed 8,000 hours of on-
the-job training along with 624 hours of related classroom studies and graduated as a Journeyman Electrician in 1979.  At that time, Mr. Walsh was employed by United Electric Co., Inc. to join its field staff to install and supervise various installations in the automotive material handling and paint and finishing markets.

In 1985, Mr. Walsh was elevated to Project Manager and since that time has managed several multimillion-dollar contracts in the automotive industry for both Ford Motor Company and General Motors. 

In April 2000, Mr. Walsh became President of United Electric Co., Inc. Currently along with his other duties, Mr. Walsh is estimating and securing contracts in the automotive markets.  In addition, Mr. Walsh is responsible for control design and implementation of Allen-Bradley PLC-2, PLC-3 and PLC-5 Programmable Controllers, and the computer interface and documentation of these programs. Mr. Walsh is a graduate of Intellect Technical School for complete sources of Allen-Bradley Programmable Controllers.  In addition, Mr. Walsh is also experienced with Square "D" and General Electric Programmable Controller equipment and has taught courses for the Louisville Electrical Joint Apprenticeship Training Committees training program.

Upon receiving his honorable discharge from the United States Marine Corps in 1952 Mr. Walsh entered the electrical construction field as an apprentice electrician and progressed through his training to completion as journeyman electrician in 1956.  From then until 1966, Mr. Walsh installed and supervised various electrical construction installations in the Louisville area.

In 1966, Mr. Walsh left that position to become President and Sales Manager of Automatic Industrial Controls, Inc., which is now a wholly owned subsidiary of United Electric Co., Inc.  In April of 1970, Mr. Walsh was elected President and Chairman of United Electric Co., Inc. and since that time has directed the operation of United.  In addition to his duties with United Electric Co., Inc., Mr. Walsh formerly served as President of the Louisville Chapter of the National Electrical Contractors Association, and Governor of the chapter.  He serves on its Labor Management Committee and Board of Directors and as a trustee of the Electrical Workers Health & Welfare and Pension Fund. In October of 1991, Mr. Walsh was inducted into the Academy of Electrical Contracting.  The Academy was established by the National Electrical Contractors Association Board of Governors in October 1968 to recognize exceptional and outstanding service to the electrical contracting industry.  In twenty-four years, 393 distinguished electrical contractors have been inducted into the Academy.  There are currently 185 members who remain active in the Academy. Since 1994, Mr. Walsh is the NECA Vice President from District II and in 1998, became the Co-Chairman of the council on Industrial Relations for NECA. 

In April 2000, Mr. Walsh stepped down as President of United Electric Co., Inc.  to assume his current role of Vice President.

Mr. Walsh holds Master Supervisor Electrical licenses for the City of Louisville, Jeffersontown, Kentucky and Jefferson County, Kentucky.

Mr. James E. Olliges, Vice President

Upon completing his courses of study at Western Kentucky University, Mr. Olliges entered the electrical industry as a Registered Indentured Apprentice.  Under the apprenticeship program Mr. Olliges completed 8,000 hours of on-the-job training along with 624 hours of related classroom studies and graduated as a Journeyman Electrician in 1978.

Mr. Olliges holds Master Supervisor Electrical Licenses for the City of Louisville, Jefferson County, State of Kentucky, New Albany Indiana, and the State of Tennessee.

In 1989, Mr. Olliges came on board with United Electric Co., Inc. as a Project Manager and since that time has managed contracts in the automotive industry for Ford Motor Co., at the Louisville Assembly Plant, Kentucky Truck Plant, Twin City Assembly Plant, Wixom Assembly Plant, and Edison (NJ) Assembly Plant. In addition, he has managed contracts with General Motors at Linden NJ and Shreveport LA. 

In April 2000, Mr. Olliges became Vice-President of United Electric Co., Inc.  At present Mr. Olliges is estimating and securing contracts in the automotive markets along with his duties as Vice President.

Mr. John Walsh CPA/CCIFP, Secretary Treasurer

Mr. Walsh graduated from Bellarmine University in 1982 with a BA in Accounting.  Upon graduation Mr. Walsh began gaining experience with the Arthur Young & Company CPAs working in the small business section providing a full range of accounting services.  He then moved on to join Thomas Industries, a Fortune 1000 manufacturer headquarter in Louisville, Kentucky.  Mr. Walsh had numerous duties including audits of the company, both financial and operational.  His understanding and knowledge provided him the opportunity to be a member of a team responsible for all filings and preparation of the Annual Report to Shareholders.  With this gained experience he transferred over to the Residential Lighting Division of Thomas Industries as the Manager of Financial Reporting and Budgeting.

In 1990 Mr. Walsh became the Controller at Futura Plastics & Engineering, he was part of a team brought in to turn this company around financially.  This feat was accomplished and the company was sold in 1992. 

In 1992 Mr. Walsh started Cost Management Services, providing accounting, tax and consulting services to a wide variety of closely held and publicly traded companies.

Mr. Walsh joined the United Electric Co., team as its Financial Director in 1997.  He has been responsible for all accounting and finance operations as well as overseeing office operations.  In addition to these duties he is supervising the Information Technology department. With his team of IT technicians Mr. Walsh has been able to reduce downtime and offer more extensive training packages.  He and his team are constantly searching and implementing new and upgraded software and equipment to remain technically adept.

In 2000 Mr. Walsh became the Secretary Treasurer and an officer of United Electric Company.

Mr. Walsh holds a Certified Public Accountants license in the state of Kentucky.

Lawrence "Larry" Farrell /General Manager-Project Manager Cincinnati Office:

Mr. Farrell graduated with honors from Purcell Marian High School going on to major in accounting at the University of Cincinnati.  To further his education Mr. Farrell successfully completed the Joint Apprentice Training turning out as a Journeyman Electrician. Mr. Farrell came to work for United Electric while still an apprentice in 1985, after completing his apprenticeship he quickly proved his knowledge and expertise earning him the rank of Foreman and then General Foreman very quickly.  In 1993 Mr. Farrell moved into a Project Management role with United working on many large projects such as Honda Motor Co.,; Paul Brown Stadium; REDS Stadium.  In 2004 Mr. Farrell took over the general manager position in the United Cincinnati office. 

Mr. Farrell has successfully participated in and completed courses in OSHA Certification and National Electrical Contractors Association Supervisory Training.  Mr. Farrell holds active Electrical licenses in both Kentucky and Ohio. 
Mr. Phillip Harris, Project Manager/Estimator

Mr. Harris graduated third in his class from Iroquois High School and attended the University of Louisville majoring in mathematics. In addition to this training he is a former Electronics Specialist with emphasis as a Special Weapons Officer with the United States Navy, after six years in the service he requested and received an honorable discharge.  Mr. Harris returned to Louisville where he joined and completed the apprenticeship program to start his career as an electrician.  Mr. Harris came on board with United Electric in May 1993 as an apprentice. Upon graduation he worked for a short time with us as a Journeyman Electrician   however his extensive knowledge and understanding moved him to a General Foreman in a very short time.  Mr. Harris has been an significant part of United Electric heading up several sizeable jobs including being Project Superintendent at our job location at Ford Motor Co., Wixom, MI and most recently Ford Motor Co., - Louisville Assembly Plant.  Due to his dedication and knowledge of the industry Mr. Harris joined the Project Management team in 2000 as a project manager and estimator. 
Mr. Joseph (Joe) Heger, Project Manager/Estimator

Mr. Heger is a 1984 graduate of Saint Xavier High School from there he went onto the University of Dayton receiving a degree in Criminal Justice in 1988.  Upon leaving college Mr. Heger became a commissioned officer in the United States Army and continued a reserve standing.  In 1989 he began the Louisville Joint Apprenticeship and Training Program graduating in 1993.  Mr. Heger worked with United Electric as an apprentice and subsequently turned out as a journeyman while here.  Mr. Heger quickly moved up from Journeyman all the way to superintendent in a very short period of time.  He proved to be a very knowledgeable individual and came on board as a Project Manger/ Estimator in May 1999.
Mr. David Hayes, Project Manager/Estimator

Mr. Hayes is a 1982 graduate of Trinity High School. To further his education he went onto Jefferson State Vocational School where he successfully completed the 2-year course of "Residential, Commercial, and Industrial Electricity". He also attended Jefferson State Community College before being accepted into the Louisville Joint Apprenticeship and Training Program from which he graduated in 1991.  Through hard work, diligence and consistency he has worked his way up from Journeyman holding Foreman's, and Superintendents positions with United Electric. In 1996 he joined the office staff as a Project Manager/Estimator. He is currently managing commercial projects, is head of our Data Communications Department, and projects at Kentucky Truck Plant. Along with his other responsibilities he is currently managing the CCM (Construction Commodity Management Program) at Ford Motor Company's Kentucky Truck Plant at which he has been a vital part of this team since its inception in 1999.
Edward (Eddie) Cassin Project Manager/Estimator

Upon completion of his courses at the University of Kentucky, Mr. Cassin entered the electrical industry as an apprentice.  In 1999, after finishing his classroom hours and on the job training hours Mr Cassin graduated as a Journeyman Electrician.   For the following 3 years Mr. Cassin was an instructor at the National Joint Apprenticeship and Training in Louisville, and tutoring 1st year apprentices on Math skills.

In July 2002 Mr. Cassin joined the United Electric team as an estimator.  Mr. Cassin has worked on various projects for Ford Motor Company and Jewish Hospital Properties.  In April 2004, Mr. Cassin also took on responsibilities as a Project Manager. 

Mr. Cassin holds Masters Electricians and Contractors License for Metro Louisville and Kentucky.
Thomas Overberg, Jr.,   Estimating Manager

Mr. Overberg graduated from the University of Louisville Speed Scientific School in 1986 and holds an Associate Degree in Electric Engineering Technology.  Mr. Overberg began as an Electrical Apprentice in 1971 working his way into the Project Management field. In 1982 he began teaching for the  Independent Electrical Contractor's Association instructing in all areas of the apprenticeship program.  He has also held instructors' positions with the Louisville Area Industrial council Apprenticeship Program and the University of Louisville Speed Scientific School in the electrical department. 

Mr. Overberg has been working with various independent electrical contractors until he came on board as Estimating Manager with United Electric in October 2000. 

Mr. Overberg holds Master Electrician licenses for the City of Louisville, Jefferson County, City of Jeffersontown, and State of Kentucky.  In addition to Kentucky he holds licenses in Clarksville, New Albany and Jeffersonville, Indiana.
Mr. Norman Bott, Engineer/Estimator

Mr. Bott graduated from the University of Louisville Speed Scientific School in 1971 and holds a Bachelor of Science degree in Electrical Engineering.  Upon graduation, Mr. Bott was employed with Louisville Gas & Electric Company in the Electrical Distribution Department.  Mr. Bott's position entailed the engineering, design and implementation of both Primary (High Voltage) and Secondary (Low Voltage) power distribution systems for this utility company.

In 1974, Mr. Bott left Louisville Gas & Electric Co. to join United Electric Co., Inc. Mr. Bott is responsible for the procurement of electrical installation contracts in the commercial and institutional markets.  Mr. Bott's duties include engineering and design of commercial building electrical systems including lighting layout, power consumption requirements, and the design drawings associated with these proposals.  Mr. Bott's continuing education has been in the area of labor relations for more cost effective methods, and the timely utilization of materials and tooling to promote cost reduction.
Mr. Larry Clark, Sales and Marketing Director

Mr. Clark entered the electrical field in 1964 and was indentured as an apprentice in 1966, graduating as a Journeyman Electrician in 1970.  Since that time, Mr. Clark has worked for several electrical contractors within the I.B.E.W. jurisdiction, as well as traveling to other states to work on various electrical projects.  Mr. Clark has a strong labor background and served as Business Manager and Financial Secretary for I.B.E.W., Local # 369 from 1977 through 1983.  Mr. Clark also served as Vice President of the Kentucky State I.B.E.W. Conference from 1977 to 1980, and as President of the Greater Louisville Building and Construction Trades Council from 1980 through 1983.

In 1988, Mr. Clark joined United Electric Co., Inc. as Sales and Marketing Director.  His duties mainly consist of sales, public relations and estimating.

In 1984, Mr. Clark was elected to the Kentucky General Assembly as a State Representative representing the 46th Legislative District.  He is currently serving his eighth term.  In 1993 Mr. Clark was elected to the position of Speaker Pro Tem of the Kentucky State Legislature, a position he is still holding.
Mr. Mark Hatcher, Safety Director

Upon completion of his courses of study at Western Kentucky University, Mr. Hatcher entered the Safety Field as a Safety Director.  Mr. Hatcher has worked for several contractors as their Safety Director throughout the United States.  Mr. Hatcher has a strong background in Safety, holding a Bachelor of Science degree in Occupational Safety and Health.

In 1998 Mr. Hatcher joined the United Electric Co., Inc. staff as Safety Director.  His responsibilities include supervising and implementing the safety program to all United Electric Co., Inc. employees.  Much of Mr. Hatcher time is spent on site visiting United Electric Co., Inc. construction projects.

Michael Brewer / General Manager-Project Manager Lexington Office:

Mr. Brewer is a 1979 graduate of Bryan Station High School in Lexington, KY. After attending the University of Kentucky for four years and working in the civil engineering field for seven years, he entered the electrical industry's apprenticeship program in the fall of 1985. Under the apprenticeship program, Mr. Brewer completed 8000 hours of on-the-job training along with 624 hours of related classroom studies and graduated as a Journeyman Electrician in 1989.

 Upon graduation, Mr. Brewer became an instructor for the electrical apprentice school until 1993. His background encompasses many different roles including Project Engineer, Project Manager and Senior Project Manager. His continuing education includes project supervision, project management, project scheduling, OSHA training, ACAD updates, CAT 3, CAT 5 and fiber certification courses, as well as other miscellaneous computer courses. Outside organizations include 9 years on the Board of Directors for the American Red Cross, 19 years as a Volunteer CPR, First Aid and HIV Instructor and 16 years Volunteer Rescue Squad and Fire Department.  He is presently serving as Chapter Chair for the Daniel Boone Chapter of the American Red Cross.

Kristi Castro-Hearne / Executive Assistant:

Mrs. Castro-Hearne was an attendant of Spring Valley High in Columbia, S.C. going on to work in the security and home construction industries.  As a construction manager specializing in single and multi family dwellings Kristi was able to develop and perfect organizational and timing skills.  After several years she went on to pursue a position in law enforcement as a police officer for the City of Camden in South Carolina. 

In 1992 Mrs. Castro-Hearne came to Kentucky and to United Electric Company.  Kristi has worked in many different areas of the company thereby acquainting her with all aspects of the operation. Mrs. Castro-Hearne has attended numerous training courses furthering her knowledge with the day to day operations of United.  .

Mrs. Castro-Hearne is also an Instructor for the American Red Cross specializing in the education of Adult, Child and Infant CPR, First Aid, and Professional Rescuer.
